Melinda Colyer is a first grade teacher at Lorena Primary in need of a bone marrow transplant. She has been married to her husband Bubba for 32 years and has two children, Zach and Jordan. Melinda was recently diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) with myelofibrosis and will need a bone marrow transplant. She currently does not have a match in her immediate family which means her doctors will be looking on the Be The Match Registry.
If you are not currently on the registry joining is very simple. It includes a cheek swab and a consent form, that’s it! If you are a match for patients like Melinda you will be asked to donate to them. You must be between 18-44, in general good health, and willing to donate to any patient in need. #BethematchforMelinda!
There will be a donor drive Monday April 3rd at Midway High School!
Midway High School Gymnasium 12-7pm come out and learn how YOU could be the CURE!
To host a drive or for more information please contact Kelly Baker: Kelly.Baker@BSWHealth.org
